DESIGN HAS ALWAYS BEEN THE STARTING POINT

I'm Jason, the designer and maker behind JR Bespoke Wood Builds.

With a background in Product and Industrial Design, followed by years teaching design and making in the classroom, I eventually decided it was time to bring those ideas back to the workbench and build something of my own.

JR Bespoke Wood Builds grew from that decision.

Today, I design and build one-of-a-kind furniture, interior features and functional art for people who want something completely unique in their home.

MORE THAN JUST MAKING

For me, bespoke isn't simply choosing a different size, colour or material.

It's about starting with you, your space and the problem you're trying to solve.

Every commission begins with a conversation. I want to understand how you live, what you need, what you like — and what isn't working.

From there, I develop the design, working through the practical challenges and details until we arrive at something that feels right for you and your home.

That might be a statement piece of furniture, a completely integrated media wall, an unusual interior feature or something that doesn't really have a category at all.

If there's a better way to do it, I'll find it.

WHERE DESIGN MEETS CRAFTSMANSHIP

I bring the same design principles that I developed through my education and teaching career into every piece I make.

But drawings and ideas only get you so far.

The real process happens at the workbench — selecting the right timber, solving construction challenges, refining details and bringing the design to life by hand.

I love the contrast between precision and nature: engineered forms alongside the character, grain and imperfections of real wood.

That's what makes each piece different.

No two commissions are ever quite the same, because no two clients, spaces or ideas are the same.

Every project begins with a problem worth solving and ends with a piece that couldn't exist anywhere else — or be made by anyone else.

HAVE SOMETHING IN MIND?

A difficult space. A dream piece. A completely unique gift.

Whatever you're imagining, I'd love to hear about it.
